At the center of this storm, the land of Westeros edges ever closer to chaos. Once seven kingdoms, united by force under the Targaryen kings, there are those who wish to see it dissolve once again.
Their enemies have succeeded in killing the last Targaryen king, and all his kindred save his only son- who remains in hiding, biding his time until he can bring fire and blood to his father's killers.
The Empire of New Ghis and the trading empire of the Free Cities have brought their silent war to the Seven Kingdoms. Ghis seeks to fracture the realm and bring about their dominion over a land ravaged by the inevitable war, but the Cities' goal is less clear...
The Citadel has remained the sole bastion of learning and knowlege in the Seven Kingdoms, and their learned maesters serve the nobles as historians and doctors, advisors and secret-keepers. All the knowledge of the land is said to remain within the Citadel's walls, and if knowledge is power and if power corrupts... Consulted in tracing the nearest descendent of House Targaryen, they declared William Stark the new king, though Stark has not wed Targaryen in hundreds of years...
High Septons have advised every king since Aegon the Conqueror brought the New Gods to the realm, yet now the church finds itself facing the possiblity of a king who does not worship their gods. A king who does not listen to their counsel. A king who prays to trees and gods who have no names. A king they cannot influence...
All the while, the nobles of the land brood on ancient wrongs, timeless feuds, and plot their way to greater power. . . '
