original. low-powered. vigilantes.
The north end of Electric City has an unmistakable stench. Not quite wet garbage, not quite dead skunk; just something in between. The whole mess couldda been avoided but city planners ignored protests from the local university's tree hugging faculty. Who knew a paper mill several miles outside of town would be a bad thing? Certainly nobody that mattered. Some rich guy gets his mill, some politician gets to pad his election coffers and Electric City gets its stink.
The north end doesn't smell so bad all the time. Mostly just in the summer and the winter, and mostly just at night. But when you drive North 22nd at one in the morning during the middle of August with your windows rolled down its hard not to think, "Ah! The smell of Electric City!"

Don't go out on the streets at night. Just don't. Not even the cops like doing it. You got the punks and the psychos in North End, the mob in Old Town and the law in New Town. Guess it isn't surprising that a bunch of amateurs stepped up to clean the mess. Not that some of those masked weirdos tip toeing around at night are much better; a bunch of crazy, thrill seeking mother fuckers. What's going to stop them from going corrupt? Their arbitrary moral code? A made up sense of honor?
Look. Electric City ain't so bad. It has a lot of nice things. As many nice things as it has bad things. Every major city has to deal with corruption, right? With crime? Just keep your head down and your nose clean. Don't bother no one. You'll do fine.
You live here long enough and even the stink becomes endearing.
