Traditional, the residents pride themselves on the peaceful normality of the town. However, not everyone sees this as a good thing. Children, growing and graduating, move on to what they see as bigger and better things. With nothing to bring in new blood, Mercury Falls, having celebrated its tricentennial and then some, seemed to have been given a "use-by" date. Mercury Falls High, once the pride of the town, was now decidedly average. In sports, they were win some, lose some. In academics, they fell comfortably somewhere in the middle of the achievement continuum. At least, that had always been the status quo, until about a year ago. The election of the new mayor brought about change. In the high school, grades started rising steadily, new classes were introduced and the Panthers had never had a better season. Grant money is rolling in and with it, new families and life. The town is once again flourishing, but for a troubling trend among certain students. As much as the town would like to deny and ignore it, at a disturbing rate, students are disappearing - going missing, committing suicide, running away. What is going on in Mercury Falls? Sorceress Ultimecia’s reign of terror is over, and though SeeD has fulfilled its purpose, Garden’s doors remain open to children to face whatever inevitable foe dares to replace her. Slowly but surely, it feels that the world is reverting back into its old rhythm and forgetting the wounds of yesteryear. Organisations continue to provide Balamb Garden with a steady line of clientele, utilising their teams of elite mercenaries by pulling them across-continent as personal soldiers. Other cadets hang back within the academy, waiting their turn as they focus on schoolwork, training… and just a little more than before, having social lives. Life may not be all about fighting and war from here on, and the dangerous electricity in the air, lingering from the battles just months ago, does nothing to ruin the palpable feeling of relief and the promise for new beginnings. But the calms after storms are fickle things. Who knows how long this one will last? It’s a new age -- not perfect, but better. For now. liberatifatali; the Children of Fate, is a game set in the world of Final Fantasy VIII; a world overrun with political corruption, magic and young heroes. It focuses on the intertwined relationships of its characters, canon and original, dark and light, and strives to create the atmosphere that players of the game -- and players simply drawn to the theme of SeeD’s military boarding school -- will be able to immerse themselves in. Detailed writers are to be found herein, as well as canon personalities and an uncertain future that anyone can influence. Balamb Garden students are playable between the ages 15-19. The house materializes out of the fog, a haven for the weary traveler in need of a hot meal and a stiff drink. Stay as long as you like, and don't worry if your wallet's empty. Your money's no good here. What we really want from you is a story. The House of Mystery [houseofmystery] is a pan-fandom RPG/writing prompt community based on the Vertigo comic book title of the same name. The house exists in all places and in all realities. Characters arrive at the house without knowledge of why they are there. Only the staff remain fixed within the house and can't leave. All other characters are free to come and go between their worlds as they wish. Although, it should be said that sometimes the house could grow fond of certain individuals and their stories, and these people might not be permitted to leave. Game will officially open on June 1st. Currently seeking characters from all fictional canons to help populate the bar. post comment
