You've sailed off the map now.
Here there be monsters.

"The world's still the same. There's just less in it"
After facing death and his own hell in Jones' locker, Jack Sparrow is in search of eternal life. Also clinging to life is the last of the Golden Age of Piracy. The East India Trading Company and the Navy it supports and half controls still seek to wipe out those who stand in their way of plotting every inch of the world on paper and controlling all of the goods to be had on every shore. Pirates fight among themselves and for survival. The Navy seems to serve the Trading Company as loyally as they do the King. Honest merchant sailors can barely make a living in the wake of the mammoth company.
Meanwhile, as the scholars of the world seek to document every fact and hold all of the world within the safe confines of 'logic', the fantastic things of the world dwindle. Fae, merfolk, monsters and more are killed off in the name of a safer, simpler world; or else flee or disappear in presence of the crushing banality of 'reason'.
There's so much less for a man to discover every day. So much less left 'unknown'. Everything will be owned and understood within another century, it seems. Where will all the unknown go then? And what immortality will be left to be had? |
"Welcome to the Caribbean"
Off the Map is a post World's End AU based on themes of the supernatural and mythical aspects of the PotC series. All film characters are open for play, even dead ones may be apped, provided you include explanation for how they may have survived their death or been resurrected. Original characters can range from pirates, navy and wenches to mermaids, sirens, and faeries. Where does your character stand as the world moves into a more modern age? As the unknown world is mapped and categorized and free trade is taken over in an international monopoly, what will you do? Turn pirate, or fight against the rogues? Stand your ground, or give in? Cannon fire thunders over the open sea. The life of a sailor is both promising and dangerous. Will you choose adventure, or safety?
Many major characters are still available and the opportunities for original characters are vast and varied! The plot will get going as soon as we have a few more apps in. |
