[Edward Elric/Alfons Heiderich; PG] It Begins With A Kiss
Character/Series: Edward Elric/Alfons Heiderich; Fullmetal Alchemist (2003)
Rating: PG
Notes: I probably screwed up something with the movie clip, but since the movie was stupid, I don't care.
Title: It Begins With A Kiss
Author: yuuo
Word Count: 567
Summary: It always starts with a kiss.
It always starts with a kiss.
It's rough, more tooth than tongue, and the endorphins make both of them dizzy.
The door is locked, the bedroom sought out. It doesn't matter whose bed, as long as there is one waiting.
The sex is a paradoxical mix of gentle love and raw lust, both sweet and animalistic.
Alfons doesn't mind as Ed drives the fucking, and Alfons drives the making love. They meet up somewhere in the middle, both satisfied, both dropping off to sleep once they are done.
He snuggles against Edward's back as they sleep, soaking up the heat of his mercurial boyfriend, his man of many colors, shades of gray in his morality that is a welcome relief in Alfons's former world or Christian black and white.
Edward talks about taking him home. Alfons think he means to meet his father, but that idea is shot down when they finally meet the man. Hohenheim is ageless, sublte, but obviously amused by Edward's infatuation with Alfons. But Edward still talks about taking him home. His father agrees that that would be a safer place for the boys, and Alfons wonders where they could go to be safe from the sodomy laws.
Edward tells him, eventually. Tells him of a whole nother world out there, where alchemy is real, where homosexuals are free to marry whomever they want and Edward's sure his adopted sister had something started with another woman shortly before he left. Although perhaps his little brother had moved in as competition and the adopted sister had become the sister-in-law.
Alfons stares at him. How could his brilliant genius, the star among the gods, believe in such a crazy story. What was his real life like, to paint this foreign world over it as if it were real?
The kisses stop after that. Alfons feels too uncomfortable. Edward is a mad man, and he wants no part of it.
At first, Edward seems crushed and Alfons almost gives in, almost vows to believe in that make-believe world just to get that look out of Edward's eyes. But then the hurt turns to anger, and Alfons can't get enough distance between them.
They do everything in an uncomfortable silence, speaking only at work and only minimally. The others notice the sudden avoidance but say nothing.
Then they get a sponsor. One that helps them build rockets like the dreamed of.
A sponsor that works with archaic magic. Edward stares up wide-eyed at the circle on the ceiling. Alfons wants to ask him what's wrong, but he doesn't.
He doesn't do anything until Edward is knocked off the second story to the floor and the circle glows, opens a gate. Just like Edward had told him. Just like the stories he'd told Alfons, the ones that would make them safe.
Alfons owes it to Edward to get him back to that home. So he gathers up Edward's heavy body and gets him strapped into a single-seater rocket, bound upwards for that Gate.
Edward awakes, demands what he's doing. Alfons shushes him, tells him he's getting him home, takes his hand and begs him to remember they existed. Then he ignites the rocket and sends Edward home.
It began with a kiss. It ended with a held hand and a bullet.
But he got Edward home, where he could find another to kiss.
