L listened carefully. If they put all of these ideas together, then there should be no problem in making it across the bridge safely.
He looked at Cuthbert, “That is exactly what I think. Moving along the supports would be the safest way to cross.” The detective then shifted his gaze to each of his teammates, “And for safety’s sake, we should travel in groups of two or three. Ideally we would want the first crossing to be light weight, agile, and…”
It then occurred to him then that George was missing. In fact the man had yet to even provide any input. The detective turned, and spied him already starting to cross the bridge with out them.
Damn it! L internally cursed. Something would have to be decided, and fast. He was not going to lose anyone if he could help it. If even one teammate died, it could mean defeat if everyone from Niflheim survived.
He looked back at the others, “Cross two at a time, either Cuthbert or Rose or both going among the first as they seemed to have experience. Mark any boards you need to for the group that follows. Do not cross the bridge until we are clear of it.”
That said he went after George. As much as he did not wish to put his life at risk in such a way, he did not believe the others would be suited for the task. Lilly was already distancing herself from this man, Morana would be too small to help him if something happened. L didn’t know Rose well enough yet despite her eagerness to start. And Cuthbert’s attention was probably better in making sure everyone else made it to safety. If the situation was different, L wouldn't have bothered.
The detective reached the bridge, then inched along the supports moving quickly but carefully, doing his best to ignore the swinging and the unsettling creek of wood under his feet.
“Exactly what prompted you to cross this bridge by yourself, and why didn’t you say anything to your teammates?” He calmly asked once he was in speaking range.
