While being instructed on their upcoming trial, L was watching both his teammates and his opponents. He recognized a few faces from Niflheim’s side—Reno, Rufus and Belphegor—but he also noticed one of their other members studying his team. The detective flashed him a quick smile before directing his gaze elsewhere.
Lilly’s reaction to George caught his attention next. He had been quite surprised that the woman had imparted with so much information about the individuals past so early after his arrival at the mansion. The man was clearly someone whose presence here gave her a lot of discomfort. And it was showing even now in her behavior around him as she was keeping her distance. L took note of this. The two of them had potential to cause problems if put into a situation in which they had to rely on one another and work together. And as this trial was about teamwork, there was an increased chance of such an event occuring.
When Lucifer and Jophiel finished, L entered through the door after Lilly and George. He was caught off guard by the sudden burst of heat he had walked into. It didn’t take him long for him to notice the source. He studied the river of lava below them, and just as Lilly mentioned it, his gaze fell upon the swinging bridge
“Yes, there appears to be one present.” L answered Lilly, nodding in its direction, “As I see no other important features in the area I assume that crossing it is be a part of our trial.”
He frowned briefly, seeing from where he stood that there were a number of boards missing, which would prove to be an obstacle in his teams crossing. L also believed it was likely that there were other unseen factors that would prove to be a hindrance to their progress, such as weak planks or frail rope that was liable to break given any amount of weight. After all it would be too easy for them to simply walk across avoiding the gaps, wouldn’t it?
L turned his attention to his teammates upon noticing this, “Our biggest concern might be in the bridge’s durability. Putting too much stress on it may cause some problems. What are everyone’s thoughts on the manner in which we should proceed?” L asked, chewing on his thumbnail in contemplation. While speed was important, they should be cautious. And it would be good to make sure everyone was on the same page and had a plan was put together before attempting to cross.
