When she moved L shifted his position, lying on his side with one arm cushioning his head so he could talk to her while looking at her face. This was much better. As nice as it felt to have her lying against his chest, he still felt a small degree of discomfort not being able to make any eye contact as he spoke to her.
“My name is L. But over time as I worked it became a something of a title. The name ended up holding a lot of power in my world. No one knew me or had seen my face prior to my last investigation so I was probably replaced without many knowing or becoming the wiser.” He brushed a strand of Rachel’s hair from her face and smiled.
L just didn’t know who had ended up replacing him. Certainly Light would have immediately taken control of his name, but he was also certain his heirs would not stand for that. He just didn’t know how much time had passed between his death and now. It didn’t really seem to matter though, his life in his own world was over and any questions he had about after his death would likely never be answered.
