Rachel didn’t inquire further on the matter which L supposed was a good thing. He knew better to give out information today but for some reason he seemed to want to share everything about himself with her. He wanted to tell Rachel not only how he died, but provide her with everything about himself that she wanted to know as if he trusted her more than any person in the world.
L knew better though. This was probably just another one of the effects the day had on him. He didn’t really trust her that much outside of today. And if he thought otherwise, he could always turn to the list he made for these occasions to remind him.
Instead of filling her in on the details of his death, he continued to listen to her. If she was telling him the truth, he wondered if he would end up there as well when this was over. If they won, that was. If they lost even that might not exist anymore. Would the afterlife even count as a world?
L considered what she said, resting his hand on her back. “I don’t remember anything that happened after I died before Metatron came. Though, I learned before my death that Shinigami existed.” There was no reason to tell her how he died or that the Shinigami were involved in his last case. But it had been something that he once believed was only myth that he learned otherwise. Therefore it was something he could relate to.
