L watched her write, keeping his expression neutral despite the fact that the action was making him uncomfortable. The detective had never kept notes, nor had he allowed anyone else working with him to do so. He didn’t know exactly what Rachel was writing, but if she was taking notes or using her powers in some way, it could be evidence or free information which could fall into the wrong hands; something that, seemed like a very likely possibility if she often carried her notebook around with her.
Then there was her statement about having nothing to lose. Rachel seemed quite willing to jump into things, which only furthered his discomfort. “Nothing at all?” L raised an eyebrow questioningly at her, “Not your comfort, sanity, or even your life?”
He took one of the packages of Rice Krispies and opened it. “This is not something to rush into. I can see why people are opposed to stirring up trouble with the other team. If Niflheim is physically better, then provoking them into a physical battle could be a costly mistake for the whole. The majority of Asgard appears to be unable to handle such an affair and the result could mean more attacks. If any action is to be taken, it would have to be done as below the radar as possible, at least until the odds are evened. The best thing to do right now is gather information to use against them. Let them think we are still on the defense. This makes them confident as well as careless.”
L started breaking the snack into tiny bite sized pieces and popping them into his mouth. After he chewed and swallowed each of them, he licked his lips and continued, “If you are looking for those who seem to have less than peaceful intentions regarding the opposing team, I know of two possible candidates. The first goes by the name of Vader. He seems to have a militaristic approach to the situation. However, his loyalty to our team has been put into question recently. He has taken up training a member of Niflheim claiming that he is using the individual to gain information, and there does not appear to have been anything offered up as a result of this.” L would have to be careful if he chose to speak with him. Angering this individual would mean he would not only have another internal enemy to deal with, but an unknown external one as well.
“The second person is Cuthbert.” Which L knew would probably not make Rachel happy considering her earlier statement about him, “He seems to have a knack for irritating people, which could be of some use. But as I am sure you are aware, he has his flaws.” His problem seemed to be that he didn’t know how to keep secrets among teammates. And with the potential hazard Maria produced, this could be difficult.
