Who: L and Rachel When: Few days After Family Fun day. Where: Emptiness Rating: PG-13 Warnings: Genius detective nudity. Summary: L decides to enter an abandoned house in Emptiness to eat and get clean. Unfortunately, he is followed inside by one of his teammates.
After an afternoon spent mostly outside in the sun, L was becoming increasingly aware of the odors his body and clothes were admitting. This did not come as a surprise though. He had been away from Asgard for a number of days now exploring the area and trying to find a suitable location for his new center of operations. He just hadn’t found the time to shower. There was work to do and he had scoured every dust filled, muddy, narrow, oily, rusty location that caught his interest from junkyard to basement looking for electronics he could convert for his own use.
L climbed out from underneath a small muddy crawlspace under a house in which the owner had been using for storage, disappointed in the fact that his search had yielded nothing but some old Christmas decorations which he had no use for. Once back in the sunlight he briefly examined himself to find the primary source of the smell. His clothes, hands, and shoes were caked in mud and had collected patches of dust, oil, sweat, grease, and substances even his trained eyes couldn’t identify on sight. It was no wonder there was an odor. The detective’s shirt, or at least the areas that hadn’t encountered the mud, were now a dull grey and stained rather than white. And it clung uncomfortably and coldly against his skin in the places that had gotten wet.
He frowned a little at this. L wasn’t exactly used to doing so this kind of work, but he had no manpower at his disposal. Any and all acts to secure his safety, health, and progress in enemy and ally intelligence had to be done on his own. He didn’t even have Watari anymore to lighten the load or remind him to do fundamental things he often forgot to do such as eat or bathe. L had been trying to keep up with it, but after looking at himself, hearing the demanding rumble of his stomach, smelling the distinct scent of body odor, and the awareness of his physical exhaustion, it appeared as though he had neglected his own care. It was too easy for him to push things aside when he got busy working.
He looked at the house behind him, realizing he could at least take care of hygiene and low energy levels right now. And although he had found nothing of value in the crawlspace, he had yet to venture inside. He could possibly find some useful things in there as well as get himself food, shower and clean clothes. It was certainly not a place he wanted to be caught in, but if he didn’t stay long, then he probably wouldn’t have anything to worry about.
He did a brief scan around the immediate area for any potential onlookers, walked to the homes back porch, kicked off his muddy shoes and carried them inside with him.
