Maria sat up and propped herself against the headboard while Reno fished for the cigarettes. She took the offered smoke and light, inhaling deeply.
And so that was that, in a sense. Maria was certain that she had moved on as much as she possibly could, and found it a great deal further than she'd ever imagined. And she was happy with that. She looked over to Reno and smiled.
"You know," she said lightly, "I think you're everything I could need in this life."
