Blythe's comments about judging others had meant about their present and their pasts. There had been times when the healer couldn't fathom what Kain had been through, and therefore, not fully understanding, made incorrect assumptions about him. In the beginning, she really did think he was a brute. But that was the point, wasn't it? To learn about the past and to better understand one another?
Chuckling harshly, Blythe sighed. "That sounds almost like my parents. And it's quite alright, there isn't a need to apologize.
"But yes, as I said, people will judge. Everything, including your past. Whether you like it or not. It is an unfortunate part of life. But that certainly doesn't mean it is the only way people perceive one another."
Feeling the baby move, Blythe couldn't help release a smile that didn't precisely fit the conversation. She placed a hand on her stomach as if to reassure the fetus that she was there. "Alessa, if someone would reject you solely on your past, then he or she is not worth your love. If they accept you only because of your past, then that is also something to be concerned about. Alessa, you...what is the saying? You give as good as you get. Your past is different from any other person's, yes, but they share your fears. Nobody wishes to be rejected. But sometimes people are not compatible. Some individuals are not compassionate. If you are only ever going to assume that every person you meet will judge you on your past, you will be too afraid to find someone who accepts you wholly."
Blythe had said a lot, but she didn't know if it would help. It was up to Alessa whether or not she wanted to listen.
