The whole mother vs. friend part was true, but in a different way. Alessa had never really seen Blythe as a mother, but more as a concerned friend. And why shouldn't Alessa have felt that way? She was used to mothers being cruel, and manipulative; psychotic and murderous. Alessa paused as she remembered one, (for some unknown reason.) Travis Grady, whose own mother had tried to murder him; believing him to be a devil child. The young woman gave a discerning 'hnn' and shook her head.
