---
He hadn't been dreaming. He hadn't even been sleeping - the dead never slept - but he had been resting in a back corner of his room. Vines were already starting to overrun the garden within, and all sorts of strange vermin and insects now lurked beneath their foliage. Grimmjow absently watched a red-banded snake slowly wind its way through both living and dead leaves.
Something was off, though he couldn't place what. The thought nagged at him but it was like some memory that had slipped his mind. It was there, he knew it was - but it remained just out of reach. His thin tail lashed side to side in annoyance and startled the snake. Grimmjow looked away as it disappeared beneath the dark foliage.
Rising to his feet, the large panther-like ghost afforded himself a leisurely stretch before making his way to the other side of the room. He gave the oversized venus fly trap a warning hiss, ears folded back against his skull, then slipped through the cracked door before it could try to strike. The winding halls of Niflheim were still familiar to him. They were also unimportant. He padded silently through them to a window left open. There was no moment of pause before he leaped through it from the third story and bounded away into Emptiness - gone from the mansion like some specter that had never even been there.
Perhaps he would hunt. Or perhaps he wouldn't. He hadn't made up his mind just yet.
