The Time Has Come
Who: Blythe, Kain, and Metatron
Where: Kain and Blythe's room and Metatron's room
When: Two days after the Mitch/Sal incident
Rating: PG
Warnings: Drama and perhaps vague sexual commentary
Summary: The day after Blythe discovers she's pregnant, the oracle (who didn't see that coming, by the way) has to confront her lover with the news. What they do next will have to be a team effort as they go to Metatron for advice.
The faint star of light glowing in Blythe's womb was unmistakable. It was a soul - the soul of a life hosted by her body. The moment she noticed it, she hyperventilated, running inside of Asgard and into a room where there was no other living entity. In the darkness this created, that light remained. When it was undeniable that it was coming from her and what it represented, she dashed towards the bathrooms and promptly got sick, returning to the greenhouse only to inform everyone that she required space for an indefinite amount of time.
After that, she locked the greenhouse doors, keeping any visitor out, and spent the entire afternoon panicking, crying, arguing with herself, and trying to consider ways of breaking the news to Kain, and consequently, the rest of Asgard. When the night finally fell, she gathered herself up and returned to her room, promptly changing her clothes and falling asleep without so much as a good night to her lover.
The next day, Blythe left her room once to find books in the library. After gathering at least seven, both in braille and in print, she remained at her crystal ball, tapping her fingers against the cool, smooth curves of the orb. By noon, she'd become too restless and resorted to pacing the room, waiting for Kain to enter.
When he did, she sat down abruptly on her bed, hiding the stacks of books under the blanket. She felt like her heart was going to burst out of her chest or that she was going to faint. Taking a deep breath and trying to keep from fanning herself, she broke into a stuttering smile, trying to speak as smoothly as she possibly could.
"Hello, Kain."
