Kain blinked. For a moment, he had no idea what had caused Blythe's sudden alarm, her voice going shrill. Once the reason become apparent, however, he choked down a bark of laughter, instead trying to make his voice as level and serious as possible.
"No, Blythe," he began, his voice hushed, as though not wanting the horses to overhear--which was rather silly, given that he was standing right next to one. "You see, horses have a very complex social system, and it is only polite to knock out a greeting on a horse's stall before you try to touch it or speak with it."
It was a miracle that he managed to get that all out without cracking up. The horse, seemingly bored, now, ducked it's head down to grab a mouth full of hay.
