As Blythe's walking stick caught his left ankle, Kain stumbled, letting out a short "Whoa--!" of surprise as he swung his arms, attempting to regain his balance--that is, before he was tripped once again without warning. That sent the dragoon tumbling to the floor, landing with a loud THUNK! on his left side.
For a moment, Kain said nothing, sitting up and staring at Blythe, totally stunned. Did Blythe just trip him? Nobody had ever tried to trip him before. But that shock quickly turned to indignation as he pulled himself to his feet, scowling.
Pranks were only funny when there weren't happening to him, dammit.
"And just what," Kain began, his voice a snarl, "Was that for?"
The answer to that one was quite obvious, but the question tumbled out of the dragoon's mouth before he could stop it. He still couldn't quite believe what had just happened.
