Turning your Home-Sweet-Home Sour Who: Emerald [and Metatron] (closed) Emerald had to admit to herself that this mission contained no true finesse. Very little danger was involved, no murder was called for, and there would be no high-speed chases. The most hazardous issue had been cutting through a horde of zombies to get to the Shop of Wonders last week, which on the whole had been more an inconvenient mess than a fun challenge (though it made her adrenaline soar nonetheless). No evidence of the undead lingered in the woods outside of Asgard, though a faint scent of death still clung to the frigid air. A few lights gleamed from the windows of the mansion, but otherwise it appeared quiet. Appearances weren’t everything, however. Emerald had no idea if the Asgardians had set up security systems, trip wires, or cameras for nighttime interlopers. But towards the back of Asgard, the maze, barn, and greenhouse provided plenty of cover for anyone with a desire to sneak about in the shadows. ‘Security risk number 228,’ she thought derisively, as she put away a pair of nighttime binoculars in her small backpack. She adjusted the black scarf covering her hair and face before departing from the woods. Long ago, Metatron had made it impossible for Niflheimers to enter Asgard anymore in an attempt to protect the ungrateful wretches from harm. As Emerald stared at the door separating her from the inhabitants, she only wondered if any of these “good guys” truly deserved to be in Heaven. What made them so...? That line of thought was shut down as Emerald crouched down and pulled out the talisman, Aldebaram, the “eye of Taurus”-something or other from her pack. It was a flat, round disk of stone about the size of her palm. According to Sydonai, it was supposed to “cause the destruction and hindrances of buildings, fountains, wells, and it spreads discord.” As Lucifer had said, the shopkeeper didn’t ask Emerald about why she wanted this item, and in exchange Syd had asked for an item of Emerald’s, which happened to be a vial of poison, Banru’s Christmas present. Such a small item for such a large payoff seemed highly unlikely. But if Lucifer, who so loved chaos, said that it would work…
Where: Asgard
When: late night February 3
Rating: PG
Warnings: None.
Summary: The green-eyed assassin does a little job for Lucifer. The results are that Asgard is no longer as safe as it once was, and Metatron’s powers are weakened. Chaos is about to get a boost as the stage for many fated events is set.
By using the aforementioned additions to the mansion, she moved stealthily closer until she was at the backdoor. When she touched the doorknob and tried to turn it, there seemed to be a light force pushing her hand away.
After finding a place to hide this prize, Emerald was ready to leave. The quiet of the night seemed different somehow, as though there were an inexplicable change in the air pressure. She felt a temptation to break a door or window, but she proved to herself that the plan worked by simply picking the lock and opening the door. The dark hall stretched into the mansion with a promising allure.
She left that door open, and hoped that chaos made itself at home.
