Where: The streets of Emptiness
Rating: R
Warnings: Language, gore, zombie doom
Summary: The sun is setting on the final evening of the zombie invasion, but Flauros and Sal are still going strong in Emptiness. It's a competition that counts till the very last second.
The zombies were unexpected, but never unwelcome. Sal, who never didn't have an urge to kill, had found her time in this world to be quite stressful. Nearly a year and no kills...it was enough to drive a mercenary/assassin mad. It never helped that she had gotten close to killing people, but for her own pride, could never quite finish them off. If they died, who would she hunt then? Self-preservation was great and all, but the asexual human didn't have much to preserve.
The only problem with this gift from the gods was the timing. Having recently fought Kain, Sal wasn't in any condition for extreme bouts of physical excursion. Which was why she had initially remained up by the turrets, shooting until the recoil and constant use of her arms became unbearable for her wounds.
Then Flauros decided to get a piece of the action, and, again, predictably, Sal's pride kicked into high gear. Not giving a second thought to her own health, she jumped into a contest with him, and abandoned her turrets, taking to the streets with an entire armory strapped to her person. She plotted shelters throughout Emptiness where she stashed ammunition and heavy artillery for later use (or entertainment). She never stopped being in pain, but knowing Flauros wouldn't stop at anything to beat the smug little human, she pushed it aside. Tonight would be the last night, though. She smelled it in the air. There was something final about tonight. Knowing that every kill counted, she reloaded her pistols and returned to the streets, fighting only a few hundred feet from where the demon stood.
