Re: Epilogue - 3 Days Later
Blythe was so immersed in her tears that she didn't hear Kain draw near. He said nothing, and so when he wrapped his arm around her shoulders and drew her against him, angling and bending in such a way that her face was tucked into the cotton of his shirt, she stiffly resisted for a moment before she allowed him to move her. She pressed her forehead against his stomach, but didn't cry long, because he seemed to have broken the spell of her moment, not that it was a bad thing. Rather, it was a reminder of her current reality.
Pushing back, but not rudely, she wiped her eyes quickly and stood, rounding away from him. Her breathing was returning to normal, but she was still shaking, so her hands moved at a constant rate, barely settling as they ran through her hair and fidgetted with her gown.
"It cannot happen again. It can't." If one remembered correctly, she behaved similarly during bodyswitch day - hyperventilating and speaking to herself - but this time, she was not torn from her visions, and so she would not faint. "There must be other ways, there...other places to stay. Where I couldn't hurt anyone, or...or you." She turned back to him, running her fingers through her hair once more. "I didn't, I - I didn't mean it. I did mean it, but..."
Blythe did know that Kain understood what she meant. She was overwhelmed, but her memory wasn't terrible. She knew Kain had been through a similar experience when his mind had been controlled by Golbez. Finding that words were not going to help her or him, she ended up going to him and carefully wrapped her arms around him, trying to calm her shaking. "I am so sorry. I...I wish it wasn't this way."
