Re: Epilogue - 3 Days Later
If Kain had had any idea what Blythe was thinking, he would have immediately done everything he could to put her fears to rest. Any wariness he was giving off was only due to his concern for her, and his awkwardness with this sort of situation. But as it was, he could only watch as she took in his words for a long moment, before getting to her feet shakily and making her way over to her desk.
He did not expect her to start throwing things, and when she did Kain got to his feet quickly, prepared to stop her if she were in danger of breaking her medicines. But her fury burned out on it's own, and she collapsed into her chair, sobbing.
For a moment Kain stood still, uncertain of what to do. He couldn't help but feel as though he'd only made things worse, thus far. But if there was ever a time he needed to put his insecurities aside, it was now.
Before the dragoon could make up another excuse for staying away, he silently approached Blythe, stopping at her side. He bent down slightly as he reached an arm around Blythe's shaking shoulders and pulled her against him, his other hand smoothing her hair.
Kain didn't say a word. He honestly couldn't think of anything to say, and sometimes it was better not to speak. He did, however, make a small mental note that if he ever saw Ryuzaki again, he would make the detective pay dearly for this.
