Kain's caution for Blythe's sake immediately evaporated as she slid to the floor, replaced by alarm. Against his better judgment, he strode forward, crouching down to her level a couple of feet away from her. He reached out a hand, pausing just short of actually touching her, not sure whether it would help or make things worse to touch her. He settled on a sort of middle ground, reaching out a bit farther and tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear before pulling his arm back.
He had been worried about her, for the days that they had been apart. Worries that were well founded, from the look of things. He was quiet for a long moment, before letting out a small sigh. "Hi," he returned her greeting with a small smile, watching her carefully. "You shouldn't take the things Misa said to heart. She's an idiot."
He just barely managed to keep "And with any luck the enemy will take her out soon" from the last part of that sentence.
