Epilogue - 3 Days Later
The morning of New Year's Day, Blythe awoke before Kain and slid out of the room. She made him breakfast and delivered it to his room, sneaking outside to her greenhouse where she had remained for the next two days, saying nothing. She was ashamed. What she could remember of last night had been horrific. And the last thing she wanted was for anyone - Kain especially - to be even more concerned for her and less for themselves. He needed sleep and she needed space.
Contrary to popular belief, Blythe was actually a very fragile soul. She could be very insecure and hard on herself, a fact that was exploited the day she chose to return to the communications systems. At first, she had enough confidence in her teammates that they would not press the issue of her behavior. And those who did only did so to remind her that they cared. But Misa, and eventually Ryuzaki, reminded her of why she sometimes hated people, especially humans.
Their words hurt. Badly. So much so, that before Blythe realized what was going on, her hands were shaking so hard, she could barely hold her quill. Others had come to her defense, but she couldn't imagine that they understood what she was feeling in that moment. When she found she could no longer even breathe properly, she threw her journal against the wall and stood up, pressing a hand to her chest. She felt almost nauseous, but couldn't calm down the waves of dizziness and sickness that besieged her. So she leaned against the nearest wall, closed her eyes, and tried to talk herself into tranquility.
