He nodded to each woman as they left, offering them a polite, if somewhat weary, "Goodnight" as they left. As soon as they walked off down the hall Kain turned, opening the door to his room and entering. The familiar room offered a small measure of comfort as Blythe followed him inside.
The worst part of the night was over. Now he would just have to stay awake and alert until after midnight. He sat at his desk in order to allow Blythe to have the bed and not put too much stress on her by being close, turning his chair so that he could watch her and talk to her.
