Kain had never really explored the maze at length, so it would have been confusing even in the daytime. At night, however, it was nearly impossible to tell where he was going. It was pitch black, and he was keeping his head up, trying in vain to see anything as he skimmed a hand along the edges of the hedges so that he didn't miss any turns. The irony of the fact that he was the blind one here was not lost on him.
Ahead, he faintly heard some rustling, which he tried to follow as best he could, hoping that it was Blythe. His hopes were confirmed when he heard a small cry from somewhere ahead of him. He quickened his pace, straining to see in the darkness. All he could really make out at all were the faint edges of the tops of the hedges. And so he completely missed Blythe as he went tearing by, too focused on looking ahead to notice her.
((Either Morana or Alessa can find Blythe. The maze is all interconnected because...well, it's a maze, so they'd be able to find her as well.))
