Re: The Garden Maze, 10:00 P.M.
L stared. Was she serious?
"I can't be honestly endangering her unless I am aware of why that would be the case," he said firmly. "You know better than anyone that prosecuting the innocent is cruel. You were innocent and prosecuted, yes? Well... right now, I have no knowledge of what is happening in that maze, or what has been happening these last few weeks. I am innocent, because I know nothing beyond what I see. Your threats and demands just solidify my fears and suspicions." he paused. "I am not returning there without something to reassure me that this isn't what it looks like. As I said, it is reasonable, especially considering what I have already seen. I can't just go to bed worried for anyone's life... not my own, or hers." he ran a hand through his dark hair, gripping it in frustration. "Can you not tell the difference, between selfishness and concern? It is more than idle curiosity! I'd die for her." L was completely unaware of the irony of those words, as he said them, but someone who was would doubtless find them striking.
