Re: The Garden Maze, 10:00 P.M.
Had Alessa been able to tell what was in L's mind at that point, past all the confusion, anger, and hurt, she would have known that he was in absolutely no danger of getting closer to her. Nothing made sense tonight, and he wanted nothing more than to leave and find logic. Anything could be happening, in that maze... Kain could be murdering Blythe. Blythe could be murdering someone else. Blythe might have suffered a nervous breakdown, Blythe might have gone insane. Maybe it was their intention to murder him, as well, and rid Asgard of the thorn in its side. But Blythe was in trouble, no matter how one looked at it.
Trying to avoid flinching at the intimidating displays of Alessa's power, L glanced about for an escape route. Caught between Alessa and the maze was not an ideal place. While L wanted to know what was happening within the maze, he was also very well aware of his mortal frailty. Gritting his teeth, he dared to contradict Alessa. "Free will? You see her like that, and cite 'free will?' Something is very wrong, here." suppressing a cold-related shiver, L wondered if Alessa was, indeed, planning to hurt Blythe. The secrecy, the threats if he spoke...
"She wanted my help. She told me so, and arranged this meeting. What of free will, where that is concerned?" L asked suspiciously. "I don't know if you can understand, but from my point of view, it looks like she is in danger!"
