Well, this certainly wasn't going how Kain had expected it to. At least it seemed as though the was making progress. Probably. Hopefully. He sighed, shaking his head, after which he responded with his own pause, a fair bit shorter than Blythe's had been, before speaking.
"Lina isn't the one who has been with me through my worst times here." Kain replied, his voice low so that nobody but Blythe could hear him. "Lina compliments me in the same way that Mitch does. As a friend with similar interests. She isn't..." Kain floundered for the right words, before finally giving up. "She isn't you."
By the Gods above and below, that sounded like something from some romantic play, but it was the truth. There was absolutely no hiding how he felt for Blythe at this point. And he was strangely comfortable with that.
