What was she doing? She thought she'd made it clear that she was leaving the ballroom, just as Kain had made it clear he had interest in Lina above all others. She was aware she was leaving him stranded again and without answers, but it was obvious she now had no desire to speak with him.
Expression frozen, Blythe did not allow her temper to settle into her features. Rather, she gazed hard at his red aura, as he'd cut in front of her path, and said in a low voice: "You flatter yourself. I am not jealous, nor have I ever been. Your feelings for Lina, amorous or otherwise, are not my business. You are wasting your time with me. And so, again, I bid you good evening."
Once more, she rounded Kain, gripping her walking stick, her face hot from both the lie she told him and for the boiling of her anger. Of all things, she should have known better.
