And with that one, stupid sentence, Kain's smugness evaporated as Blythe broke away from him and attempted to leave the dance entirely. Kain was momentarily stunned--what in the hell was her problem?--before he strode after her, blocking her path.
Nothing was easy when it came to this woman, was it?
"Blythe," Kain began, confusion completely coating his tone. "What are you doing? I'm not going to search for Lina."
He paused for a moment, frowning. While the dragoon wasn't the most perceptive person at times, he was far from stupid, and when a realization struck him he didn't know whether to laugh or shake his head in exasperation.
"You're jealous."
It was a statement, not a question. Kain could scarcely believe it. After giving him the cold shoulder for weeks, Blythe was jealous of one of his friends.
