Because Blythe had never been to any sort of parties of that nature, she was only left to try to imagine it and feel sorry for him. She was a generally good at tolerating all sorts of atmospheres (well, she liked to think so), but what Kain described sounded stuffy and dry. She didn't understand why people would talk for the sake of talking.
Besides, thinking of Kain dancing with other women, whether he liked them or not...ideas of him waltzing with Rosa...they unsettled her. The more she considered how much ire this caused her, the deeper the green of her jealousy became.
But those envious thoughts were cast aside at Kain's last comment. His voice had grown noticeably softer, she could tell, and it warmed her heart in a moment of whimsical hope. Internally, her reactions ranged from take that back immediately to notions of complimenting him similarly - the former option always sounding much more suitable for her general demeanor - but she settled for something securely in the middle.
"'Pleasant' isn't a word one would usually use to describe a dragon, but I think I shall take that as a compliment." She smiled happily, her previously icy exterior nearly melted. "Thank you. It would only be fitting of me to say 'likewise'." And she meant that. For all her harping and nagging, she really did find his company most sensational.
