[ooc note: Because this thread is going to feature twelve characters, treat this thread the way the party in Asgard was treated - characters don't have to reply to each other and go in turns, but there should be some semblance of interaction, unless your character would just sit and wait to be called.]
Metatron had gathered the five representatives of Asgard and explained where he was taking them and how before leading them to the mysterious room with only one door. Everyone was seated (or allowed to stand) along the rising, greek-like circular seating (though to some, it might've been more reminiscent of large high school gym benches, only stone and clean) as Metatron stood waiting patiently in the center.
It took only a few seconds later for Lucifer to arrive with his own five representatives on the opposite side of the room. The room was magicked so that no one could inflict harm on each other, as both leaders wanted to start the trial as quickly as possible.
The massive circular room resembled a temple of sorts - mysterious writings in an unrecognizable language and beautiful, fascinating statues surrounded the area. Both Lucifer and Metatron stood in the stage-like center area below. Metatron spread out his hands and smiled, turning to face everyone at least once as he spoke. "Welcome, welcome, representatives for the first trial. As you know, this will be a trial of the mind. Each of you will receive a puzzle that you will be responsible for solving. Each puzzle also has instructions - every single puzzle is about an item or two that you are to retrieve and bring back to she who gives you the puzzle."
Metatron placed his hands on his hips and beamed. "Each of you will be called in private to meet with Sphinx. She'll be the one to give you your riddles to ensure that it remains a fair endeavor. Once you've received your riddle, you can come back and talk more here, or you may touch the black orb in that pillar," Metatron gestured to the large black orb embedded in one of several pillars holding up the ceiling, "and you will be transported back to Asgard or Niflheim, respectively."
Lucifer rolled his eyes. "And if any of you are stupid enough to touch it beforehand, it won't do anything - it recognizes those who have and haven't met with Sphinx. Also, the trial lasts a few weeks - so you not only have to protect whatever the answer to your riddle is, you also have to make sure you remember to bring it with you the day when all the puzzles have to be answered. You answer to the Sphinx on the last day of the trial - not a day earlier. You can be hindered in your journey to get the answer, and you can have help from people who aren't representatives - so long as you kept trying to solve it with them or whatever. But people who have their own riddle to solve have to figure their own out."
Metatron shrugged in an easygoing manner and continued on. "I wish each and every one of you luck in your trial and I pray that you manage to remain safe in your journeys for the answers." He closed his eyes and held a hand to his heart as he began to speak in two voices - Metatron's own and a distinct, echoing voice with him as he spoke in latin. "Deus vel Diabolus, fortuna mos sumo, permissum verus rector orior oriri ortus ingravesco primoris quod denique sator. Permissum nemo exsisto vulnero proprius, quod haud animus occisor."
Lucifer snorted and flicked lint off of his shirt as he then said, in a low voice that echoed throughout the room the same way Metatron's had: "Deus vel Diabolus, chaos mos sumo, permissum Diabolus lucror quod incompositus exsisto ut morbus mos emanio quod torqueo interficio nos totus."
Metatron laughed and spread his hands out. "Now, may the first trial officially begin." The massive door behind Lucifer and Metatron opened on its own, just enough for one person to step inside as mysterious golden writing floated out from the door and over to pass by Metatron and Lucifer, who seemed to be able to read it.
Metatron nodded. "Mitchell - please pass through the door to begin your trial."
[ooc: The latin spoken by Metatron roughly translates to "God or Satan, fate will decide, allow the true leader to rise and become the first and last creator. Let no one be marred permanently, and no soul murdered." The latin spoken by Lucifer roughly translates to "God or Satan, chaos will choose, let Satan win and disorder be unleashed so that disease will spread and torment murder us all." Please forgive my rough, terrible Latin, but I tried. If there are any errors it's my fault, NOT Metatron's or Lucifer's.]
