Zefiris noticed Morana’s increasing distress and what sounded like a small scuffle developing in the background. She would need Morana to calm down before they would be able to leave, and an argument would do nothing to help her mood. “Morana, would you please do me a favor? Would you close your eyes and think of your favorite place? Push all of your thoughts to the side and focus on breathing.” She allowed herself to show a small reassuring smile. “With a clear mind, we will best be able to deal with whatever troubles you. In the meantime, excuse me while I attempt to neutralize a potential situation.”
Zefiris stood just in time to witness the blond warrior storm out of the library; this would require an adjustment in her plan. She walked up to the pale man who had been referred to as “Ryuzaki”. “Your current presence may be contributing to Morana’s distress. It would be appreciated if you would take your leave of this room for the time being.”
She glanced down before meeting his eyes, her voice cold. “And please, do not speak of war and weapons if you have not experienced them firsthand. I doubt such actions will lead you to good standings with those who have.” She turned, returning to her place in front of Morana.
