L wondered if he was hearing things correctly. Blythe was going to allow Mitch to throw fireballs at her?
He'd promised himself and Blythe that he wouldn't get in the way... but even if Blythe could heal herself, L wasn't anxious to watch her get burned. That would be more than painful... it would be maddening, and almost sick, if L just let that happen.
"Isn't there any way the spell could be modified?" he asked before Mitch could agree or disagree to Blythe's request. "Could the protection be cast over an inanimate object, like a tree or a dummy, and Mitch could throw fireballs at them, before any such measures are taken?" It was odd for L to be so cautious. He had faith in Blythe's abilities, he truly did... but he was instinctively wary of what might happen.
