She had been playing with her food long enough. One wouldn't think it, but in a hunt like this Strix was one for theatrics and irony. Oh, yes. She loved the idea of turning into a terrible monster just as soon as Dorian's words tripped of his lips.
"Why would I hate you? What is so wrong with you?". He might as well have written ATTACK ME NOW on his forehead.
Just as she began to gather her muscles up, she was inturrupted.
Hold.
What?
Hold.
Strix knew that voice. Knew it very well. It was the little voice that sometimes told her things, that could smell the winds and see far off things. Since she had been in this aweful place it had only spoken once before, to tell her the true name of Light Yagami. Kira. She always listened to this voice. To ignore it was to invite peril.
Frustrated, Strix ground her teeth. Why now? What better opportunity would she ever have?
You must hold. Wait. Later.
And then the voice was silent.
She wanted to scream. So close to getting what she wanted and then pulled away again by her own...her own whatever the hell it was. ARGH!
Not being able to continue to sit there and not draw blood, Strix had to leave. Had to get out of there. She quivered in frustration. Hopefully Dorian would see it for something else.
"I'm sorry," she said, staggering up. The drain from shifting was catching up to her, and it was the bloody middle of the day, so the stagger was only have staged.
"I must go. This is dangerous. I shouldn't have..." she said, backing away from him, eyes like a frightened deer's.
