Shinji was quite glad, in honesty, that Midvalley agreed with him to a certain extent. Unfortunately, though, whilst he would never have said he was poor at conversation, he had found that here, he was never quite certain with what to say. With classmates, it was easy - they were his classmates, after all, and the same age as he was (not that that meant a great deal). For the most part, he didn't converse with adults outside of family and teachers and those he had to for one reason or another. He disliked most - particularly those that kept company with his mother or father. He imagined if he'd been able to meet them, he'd have like the company that his Uncle had kept, but of course, that was and had been impossible. As for here, though, there wasn't really much reason as to why he should struggle for conversation, other than he didn't know of any common ground he had with anyone, beyond the fact that they were all here.
"It seems I end up talking about myself or my opinions a lot, huh", he stated, coming up short on the 'topics of conversation' scale of things, and he had never been comfortable with asking people particular details about their lives. He was find with less personal, more general questions, or if he had something that really piqued his curiosity, but simply asking for the sake of asking struck him as slightly rude, especially if he didn't know that person particularly well. Of course, it was slightly detrimental to getting to know them, but that was besides the point.
