Shinji murmured vaguely in response to show he had listened. "Five, huh. Wow". He couldn't say he'd ever thought about the idea that someone would 'know' an instrument was theirs to play. But then again, he'd never been the musical type. "I had a friend who played guitar. I don't know when he started playing. It was whenever he got sent to the orphanage. Definitely older than five, though", Shinji added with a quick grin, but stuff like when Shuuya's parents had died, and what had happened to Nobu's family weren't things that they talked about. It might have been mentioned occasionally, but it was never lingered on. After all, there were a lot of things wrong with Japan, and most people didn't like to think of them in personal terms. Shuuya wasn't oblivious, though, and Shinji had liked that. It was clear by the fact that Shuuya played guitar at all.
"I was never into listening to music, but..." Shinji paused for a moment, face screwing up in thought as he attempted to think of artists. "Well, I'm not really sure what Shuuya listened to. It was imported, of course". He rolled his head to one side to glance at Midvalley. "Illegally. Think it might have been stuff like The Beatles? Elvis someone-or-other. I'm not really sure. Japan just had a rather fantastic idol industry". He wasn't sure if Midvalley would know what idol's were, so he'd explain if necessary. He didn't think there was a word for it in English, though. "Guitars would have these stickers on, saying something like 'it is illegal to pay dangerous music'. I can't remember the exact phrasing, but that's the gist of it. Pretty whacked, huh".
