"Ansel Adams, yeah." Henry nodded. "I've got a couple of his books, I've studied his landscapes. His work on National Parks is...amazing. It's... I can understand why some people believe a camera steals some of your soul. It captures a... a piece of time, something that's never going to happen ever again. You know the saying 'you can't step into the same river twice'? It's the same with pictures. You can never take the same picture twice. Even if... you go to the exact same spot at the exact same time, it won't really be the same, because everything's always changing. And when you take a picture of anything - a person, a rock, a tree, a building, a sunset - it's completely unique and special."
He knew he was rambling on, but Eileen actually seemed interested, and didn't think he was completely insane.
"It's actually really fascinating. Like... every day, I'd take pictures just in my apartment, around the same time each day. And you can line them up and see that it's the same place, and the same time, but there are all these subtle little differences in each picture."
