Kain was glad to hear that he hadn't ruined the mood too much, and smothered the chuckle that had been threatening to erupt from his throat as she vigorously shook her head.
"No need to apologize," he replied cheerfully. He took what she said as the highest compliment, and couldn't think of a way to properly convey his gratitude. "And...ha, yes."
As the dance slowed nearly to a stop, Kain breathed an internal sight of relief. He'd somehow managed to keep from making a total fool of himself. "I really enjoyed it. You're an excellent dance partner, Blythe." He meant it. This whole fiasco had been worth it just to dance with her, not that he'd ever say that.
