"Yes, it was very impressive...though it wasn't nearly as beautiful inside as out." His face scrunched up in distaste, and for a moment thought that there may have been a moral in the tower's construction, somewhere. Killing two birds with one stone by both changing the subject and staying polite, he replied "Really? Do you know more of it?"
The dragoon allowed himself to be led around by his short dance partner, still focused on not tripping, when she asked the next question. There was a long pause before he replied.
"I honestly don't know."
It was the truth. He missed his friends, of course, but it was nice not to be constantly reminded of his past wrongs, and the people here were...kind. Cheerful. Trusting. And his cause was, for once, a noble one.
He suddenly felt like a coward, running from the consequences of his actions into a fantasy world.
