"You've never been to a party?" Shinji repeated, raising his eyebrows slightly, somewhat surprised that he hadn't been to one ever. "Not even, like, a birthday party or anything?" He added, a little confused by Dorian's comment about Mitch. He wondered if it was an idiom he wasn't familiar with in English (he'd never taken the time to learn many idioms, and he'd managed to pick up colloquial English here and there, once he'd succeeded in getting around the filters that restricted the internet in the Republic of Greater East Asia).
Once again glancing around the room, Shinji took note of the guests; there appeared to be quite an eclectic bunch, with people continuing to arrive. He was glad he'd never been someone who particularly failed when it came to social situations on a general level (this was something of a special case and rare occurrence; he wasn't entirely sure what to expect, not what Asgard expected of him).
Looking back at Dorian as he spoke again, Shinji's expression flickered for a moment, before laughing slightly. "Well, it's nice that you view me as a friend at the moment". The way Dorian's comment had been phrased, it had more or less implied that Shinji was going to be (at least viewed as) evil at a later date. He supposed that in a way it was inevitable. He wasn't going to go out of his way to sabotage his own team (he'd briefly wondered what he'd get out of such an action, and really, it had more or less been only death, and he really didn't fancy dying yet again. Even though he disliked Niflheim, he was quite happy to prolong his death. Sure, it was selfish, but hey). As such, as long as he was part of Niflheim and working alongside them, he imagined that, to Asgard at least, he'd be viewed as evil at some point.
