As he realised he was being spoken to, Shinji turned towards the speaker, his expression one of slight surprise. After a brief moment, it dawned on him who the person must be. "Dorian?" He half questioned, his English somewhat accented. He didn't look how he imagined him (but then, he reasoned, who on either team looked how he'd imagined them to look? He was tempted by the idea of just giving up on having mental images of people since he clearly didn't work).
Glancing at the proffered hand, before shaking it, offering Dorian a small smile. "It's ...Nice to meet you", he responded. Briefly glancing back around the room, Shinji realised that he really wasn't doing all that well with regards to conversation topics; he imagined it had something to do with his unease about being here.
Returning his attention back to Dorian, Shinji gestured loosely. "So, you and th- Mitch. You guys done all this, huh? It's pretty impressive". Shinji had personally never tried to organise anything remotely similar (the odd party between friends didn't count). His parents, of course, had organised something here and there, but they had been more along the lines of formal dinners primarily aimed at those who worked alongside his father. His mother, despite the current situation of their marriage, always accompanied him, and Shinji had been aware that it was simply to keep up appearances. They'd always been far too worried about that kind of thing.
