She was feeling relieved already, though she wasn't exactly looking forward to putting everything she had out for Dean to see. Some people might think she was an almighty perfect leader, but Buffy thought less of herself than anyone in her position. And even moreso lately with all the newbies running around. She was feeling insignificant, so for a guy to be this interested in her was something she didn't want to let go. Of course, she wondered how interested he would be after she gave him the Buffy history lesson.
"I definitely know what you mean," Buffy said, "I hate lying about what I do, especially since being a slayer is really just who I am now." She sucked in a suddenly nervous breath as he asked who wanted to start, "Well, this was my idea, so I'll take one for the team," she said, smiling slightly.
She put her glass to her lips, draining half of its contents before beginning, "Okay, well, I was called when I was fifteen, went out slaying, yadda yadda. Burned down my high school's gym because it was full of vampires. My parents split up and my mom and I had to move to Sunnydale. And that's where I met all my best friends, like Willow, Xander, Giles--my watcher--and Angel." Here it was, the Angel story. She took another sip mostly to slow down her racing heart--she was afraid he'd think less of her for having fluffy bunny feelings for a vampire. "Angel was my first love, but he was also a vampire with a soul," she said, "You've probably already heard of him if you've heard of me. He's probably more famous in our world than I am. But, anyway, we were together--and he was my first...everything. But, he lost his soul because of his 'one moment of perfect happiness,' which was actually the result of the first time we, you know, and so, he started killing people. He nearly killed me. And when he was about to destroy the world, he got his soul back. But--" another sip "--I had to kill him because it was already too late. It really destroyed me. I ran away for a while, but eventually I got over it. Until he came back from hell. I lied to my friends about him being back for a while, but Angel and I tried to make it work. Ultimately, we knew it couldn't, so he left town."
She ran a hand through her hair, letting out a breath, "That's a lot easier to do when I have some alcohol in my system."
