Dean was having severe trouble keeping his hands off her. Pretty normal for him really; he’d never been short of female attention but to him, Buffy was somehow different. So many factors made this far more than just a fling. He didn’t need to lie about his life and what he did. He didn’t need to check everything that he said. She understood what this life was like and how hard it could be at times. Come to think if it, a Slayer and a Watcher together was pretty much the perfect combination. Add to that that she was the hottest thing he’d set eyes on in a long time…and seemed to think the same way about him…and things were definitely looking good for them.
Her cold shower comment made him laugh but his face grew more serious when it became obvious that she knew they had to take this slow. Taking her back to his place tonight and falling into bed with her would be so damned easy. Too easy! And he didn’t want that. Well, he did want that but, for the first time, it would be nice to work upto it. Take their time. Enjoy the getting there as much as the actual event.
That’s if they could!
He helped her out of the cab when it stopped and made doubly sure not to give the driver a tip. Crabby bastard had spoiled their first real kiss and Dean sure as hell wasn’t paying him for it. Following her into the bar, he was pleasantly surprised. It was quiet and dimly lit...no sawdust on the floor, no drunks being sick in a corner, no blood…certainly not what he was used to! He let her choose a seat and tell him what she wanted to drink, then spent ten minutes ordering the drinks and trying to get the barman to lend him something to put her flowers in. Finally he wandered back to the table with the drinks and a pint glass full of water. “Not exactly Waterford crystal but I figured it’d do for now.”
