The girlfriend crack made him smile. "I don't mind being the girlfriend," he admitted with a laugh, the warm water keeping him buffeted and lifted up. "I just... I think it bothers me more than it bothers anyone else," he admitted. "It makes me wish I was a different person, or at least, a person that didn't care." He shook his head to clear it of all the thoughts. "I like who you are. More importantly, I like who I am when I'm around you. And starting now, that's going to be enough." He paddled forward and pressed a kiss to Spike's lips. "I promise."
