Had he not been underwater, Spike would've been able to hear Riley's answer quite clearly. As it was, though, it just sounded like incoherent mumbling. Still, he could easily guess what the words had been. Upon surfacing, he saw Riley floating on his back and swam over, pulling the man upright so that Spike could kiss him without making him sink. After a moment, he pulled away and looked at Riley expectantly. "Okay, I'll bite. Why does it matter? Obviously you don't feel the same way now, so I'm over it." He didn't voice his next question -- Or were you just saying it so you could get an apology out of me? -- because that would definitely start a fight. And for once in his life, Spike didn't want to fight.
