“Yeah, that would be kind of nice. A good omen or something.” Slowly he eased his arm away from her hand and draped it loosely round her shoulders instead. “And if it does, I’ll keep you all cosy.”
This was weird. He’d only just met her but this seemed so natural already. There was nothing forced or awkward. It just felt right to him. Tightening his arm round her he smiled happily and wandered along the new streets as slowly as he could, wanting to make the most of this. He didn’t speak much, there would be plenty of time for endless, drink-fuelled chatter later. For now, he was just enjoying being with a girl who knew what he was and wasn’t running a mile in the opposite direction.
They reached the pod all too quickly for his liking and he reluctantly let her go. “What time is good for you tonight? I’ll come pick you up…if you promise not to moan about my car being full of burger wrappers. Oh…wait a minute…car equals no alcohol for Dean! That’s bad! I’ll get a cab instead and come get you. That sound good to you?”
