Dean narrowed his eyes at her. “Ah but Watchers are a strange breed. He could be ranting and screaming one second about how you’re all precious and stuff and then I dangle just the right book under his nose and he’d be helping you pack and shoving you out of the door.” His sneaky look turned into a genuine smile quickly and he ruffled her hair. “I’m only kidding around with you. I know that most Slayers and Watchers get pretty close.” He looked around the place, “Now if I can just grab me a little spare one, I’ll get to work on the lifetime bond!”
He held his hands up in surrender when she downed the Council. “You’ll get no argument from me on those assholes. I know they’re not as bad now as they used to be but still…” He shuddered. “Guys used to give the creeps when I was younger. I guess they still do. And they have no clue about what really goes on out in the big world. They hate me. They think I’m…and I quote…the most unlikely Watcher who ever disgraced this Council. And as you can see, I’m really losing sleep over that!”
He shrugged. “Anyway, let’s go eat before the thought of them puts me off my cheeseburgers.”
