"I don't know," Wesley answered. "What were you thinking? In fact, what are you thinking right now? Are you trying to protect Buffy, Spike, or yourself?" But he closed his notebook. "I don't know that either; I don't know Finn at all to make any sort of judgment on his moral or mental status. It is entirely possible that he is manipulating you, but it is equally as possible someone is manipulating him. In fact, I'm nearly certain that Spike is manipulating you to increase your guilt and keep you miserable. But given his past history, both with the hardware that was removed from his head and the other mental compromises he's been subjected to, it's equally as possible that someone is manipulating his behavior to force him to act in that manner," Wes pointed out. "And if he is under any sort of duress, then it's possible that he could kill Finn or go through with the threat to turn him, and as you pointed out, that's dangerous for both of them. Finn would get enough of Spike's soul to make him aware that he is an evil creature, but not enough to stop him, as it's stopped you and Spike. If no other reason, you must find him and convince him that turning someone now, in his state, is impossible."
